Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival | Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Every winter the beautiful town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado celebrates the snowy season with their annual Winter Carnival.  This was Angela and my first time in Steamboat and we found the city to be very enchanting.  All around I could hear the entire town warmly converse with each other while I walked down the sidewalk in my Sorrels, successful in my attempt to stay warm.  With my camera in one hand and a wonderful latte from Off the Beaten Path to help keep the warmth, we wandered the festivities and found there’s a very good reason why Steamboat is called Ski Town, USA.  Saturday was the day of the Street Slalom and Skijoring competitions right on the main strip:

Saturday night was the Night Extravaganza which included an impressive fireworks display with skiers going down the runs with an assortment of fireworks shooting off their bodies:

During the grand finale of the Night Extravaganza, the city of Steamboat Springs set off the largest firework ever launched in America, a 500 pound behemoth!  Here’s a video of it going off 1 mile above the mountain tops:

Sunday morning was the Winter Carnival Parade that travels down the main strip of Steamboat.  It was literally the perfect day to celebrate winter:

A very special thank you to Brad, Maria and family of Alan-Bradley Windows and Doors for hosting us for the celebration.
